Why local matters
Most Ipoh customers decide on the first screen of Google.
Do not call Kinta Valley a UNESCO geopark
It was declared Malaysia's second NATIONAL geopark in 2018, covering 1,952 km². UNESCO's own list of Malaysian Global Geoparks contains Kinabalu, Langkawi, Lenggong and Sarawak Delta — not Kinta Valley. Tourism Perak's own page muddles this by showing a UNESCO logo, so businesses copy the error onto their sites. It is a trap worth knowing about.

Searching “seo ipoh” on google.com.my on 21 July 2026 returned nine organic results with no ads and no map pack. Only Specflux lists an Ipoh address. First and second are in Petaling Jaya, fifth is in Jakarta, seventh states outright that it runs no Ipoh office. Observed from a Selangor IP — organic results travel, map results do not.

Perak led Malaysia in domestic tourism in 2024 with 10.2 million overnight visitors, up 36.1% year on year and ahead of Selangor's 9.6 million. Kinta district alone took 3.72 million visits. Most of those people are not local — they searched before they left home, which means Ipoh demand follows the holiday calendar, not the working week.
The Star, citing state tourism figuresKinta is 38.4% Chinese among citizens
Computed from DOSM's district population dataset: 321,700 Chinese residents in Kinta district in 2020, 36.2% of everyone and 38.4% of citizens, against 44.0% Malay and 12.4% Indian. That is a district-level measurement, not the national average — and it is a different answer from Klang, where Chinese are 24.5%.

Our most checkable client result is an Ipoh business. Two things are worth knowing before you brief anyone here. Perak led Malaysia in domestic tourism in 2024 with 10.2 million overnight visitors, up 36.1% on the year, and Kinta district took 3.72 million of those visits — meaning much of your demand searched before it left home, and it follows the holiday calendar rather than the working week. And do not repeat the geopark error: Kinta Valley is Malaysia's second NATIONAL geopark, declared in 2018, not a UNESCO Global Geopark. Tourism Perak's own page confuses this by displaying a UNESCO logo, and businesses copy it onto their sites.
