SEO in Johor Bahru: one page in eight names a price.

Looking for SEO in Johor Bahru? We opened all eight results on page one of that search and looked for a price — exactly one publishes theirs. Below: the whole page, then what we'd actually do for a JB business.

Get found in Johor Bahru's fast-growing market.

Johor Bahru is one of Malaysia's fastest-moving markets, powered by the Iskandar growth corridor and a steady stream of cross-border visitors from Singapore. New businesses open constantly, and customers — local and Singaporean alike — lean on Google Maps, reviews, and AI to decide where to spend. Standing out here means being the result that shows up first, in every place people search.

Snapshot 17 July 2026 · prices read off each firm’s own page · the ranking order moves daily

Eight results on page one. One of them tells you the price.

We opened every result that came up for “seo johor bahru” and looked for a number. Not a range someone else charges, not a “worth RM3,000” consultation — an actual price for the actual work. We found one. Here is the whole page, with what each one publishes and the authority score Moz gives it. Moz’s score is an estimate of how much the rest of the web links to a site; it is not a Google metric, and as you’ll see, it is not what ranks here either.

1LOCUS-T

A Google Premier Partner, ranking first since 2009. No figure anywhere on the page.

2Webteq

Domain registered 2007. No figure on the page.

3ZenWeb

The only page here that publishes its own rates — and it does it properly, in bands, with the mid-points shown. Its figures are attributed to its own client accounts, so the underlying data isn’t published; it is still the only one on this page that gave a figure at all.

No figure on the page. One of the newest domains on this result — see the note below on what that does and doesn’t predict.

A directory: “The 10 Best SEO Agencies in Johor Bahru”. It points you to a shortlist of agencies rather than quoting for the work itself.

7MYSense

The only RM figure on the page is the stated value of a free consultation, not a price for the work itself. Worth reading that line closely before you file it as pricing.

No figure on the page. Also one of the newer domains on this result.

Seven of the eight will not tell you what they charge.

One publishes rates. One shows you the value of a free consultation and no price. The rest — including the Google Premier Partner at #1 and the directory at #5 — show nothing at all. In Penang the same exercise found three of ten publishing a price. In Johor Bahru it is one of eight. Every other result costs you a form, a call, and a wait before you learn the one thing you came to find out.

02

The ranking order and the authority order barely match.

Read the authority column above against the rank column. The result at #4 scores 5, with three referring domains, from a domain registered in 2023. The directory at #5 scores 47, with over nine thousand referring domains and a domain online since 2006 — and it is behind. Whatever is deciding this page, it is not who has the biggest backlink profile. So when an agency's pitch leans on how established it is, that is a reason to trust it with your money, perhaps — but it is not evidence that it can rank you.

03

“Worth RM3,000” is not a price. Learn to spot the difference.

The only ringgit figure on one of these pages is attached to a free strategy session. It is a real technique, it is not dishonest, and it works because it puts a number in front of you that your eye files as pricing. When you are gathering quotes, ask for one thing: what will you invoice me, monthly or annually, and does that include the 8% service tax? Anything that is not an answer to that question is not a quote.

What we'd do

What we'd actually do for a Johor Bahru business

No promised position — Google says no one can promise one. Just the work, matched to how JB searches: a big share of it starting across the Causeway, in a market that keeps adding new addresses.

01

Catch the customer before they cross

A large share of JB demand starts in Singapore — searched the night before the drive over. We make sure you show up when someone searches your category near JB, in Search and in Maps, not only once they're parked outside.

Local SEO
02

Keep new-development listings consistent

Iskandar means new plazas, new addresses, businesses that moved. A name, address and phone that disagree across the web is the most common reason a JB business is missing from the map pack. We find every listing and align it.

Google Business Profile
03

Speak to both sides of the border

Half your customers may search from Singapore, compare in Singapore dollars, and judge you against Singapore options. Your site and its words should read to a cross-border buyer, not only a local one.

Web design

What we can’t do for you in Johor Bahru — said plainly.

We are in Subang Jaya, four hours up the highway. We have never handled a JB business with half its customers coming over the Causeway, we do not know what Iskandar’s build-out has done to your rents or your rivals, and a JB agency will read your market faster than we will. What we will not do is put a figure in front of you that we can’t stand behind, or promise a position Google says nobody can promise. Every number above links to the page we took it from. Questions

How much does SEO cost in Johor Bahru?
Of the eight results on page one for “seo johor bahru”, exactly one publishes its own rates: RM1,000–2,000 a month for a single-outlet local business, rising to RM6,500–14,000 for multi-location work. Everyone else asks you to enquire. For a broader picture we opened the pricing pages of eight Malaysian agencies: published retainers run from about RM650 to RM9,500 a month, with most SME work between RM1,500 and RM4,500 — before the 8% service tax that almost nobody quotes upfront.
Why won’t agencies in JB publish prices?
The usual reason given is that scope varies, which is true. The practical effect is that you cannot compare anyone without a phone call, and the number you eventually hear can be shaped by what the caller seems able to pay. That is not a conspiracy — it is just how enquiry-gated pricing works. Our position is that if a range is honest enough to say on a call, it is honest enough to print.
Should I hire a Johor Bahru agency or a KL one?
None of the work that decides whether you rank — your Google Business Profile, your reviews, your site, your words — happens in a particular city. Local knowledge matters for judgement: which crowd, which season, whether your customers are crossing from Singapore. Ask whoever you are talking to what they actually know about your area and whether they have done it before. Ours is Subang Jaya, and we will say so.
How long does SEO take to work in JB?
We won’t give you a month-by-month table. Google used to publish a “four months to a year” estimate in its own SEO documentation and has since deleted that line. When Google will not commit a timeline to writing, an agency putting one in a table is showing you its confidence, not your forecast.
